New motto for the month --> "I am doing this for my future self."
I noticed my routine was slowly getting off course and decided it was necessary to go back to the basics this past week. Focusing on simple self-care habits!
And so far these simple steps have been amazing. One key piece is saying this new motto over and over again. So I wanted to share this new motto/mindset with you too:
Setting the coffee maker the night before rather than in the morning -- doing this for my future self
Taking off ALL makeup, brushing and flossing no matter how exhausted I am -- doing this for my future self
Making time to meditate -- doing this for my future self
Swapping out cocktails/wine for a seltzer or tea -- doing this for my future self
Putting the phone down/closing the laptop and being present when you spouse or family member is talking -- doing this for OUR future selves
Making the bed as soon as we wake up -- doing this for my future self
Going for a walk...
3 simple morning routine basics that you can complete in 5 minutes. Starting a morning routine can be overwhelming. Using these basics can help you ease into a new habit and see that it doesn't need to be complicated! Just 5 minutes can make a huggeee difference!
Using these basics your morning routine could be as little as 5 minutes or up to 60 minutes. It's up to you based on what you need, anddd realistically, what you have time for!
Morning Routine Basics:
Say out loud, journal, or read a list of things you are grateful for. Why? Because it’s really hard to start the day off in a bad mood if you take a minute to count your blessings. Sooo take a blessings inventory right when you wake up and be grateful!
Listen or read something positive. Control the first things you consume each day. (Example: affirmations, personal development book or podcast, etc.)

This video shares the two initial questions you should ask yourself when feeling stuck at work (or life).
1. What do you currently love about work? What brings you the most energy and excites you?
2. What would you change if you could?
The questions may sound simple, but the reflection takes a little work. With your answers from these initial questions you can start designing and creating work that you love rather than staying at the "good-enough" job that doesn't fulfill you.

5 Things I Wish I Knew Early In My Career
Some of these are things I wish I knew in my early 20s and others are just good reminders for all of us - no matter what stage you are in your career!
1. YOUR TITLE DOES NOT DEFINE YOUR WORTH (NOR WILL IT BRING YOU LASTING HAPPINESS)
The worst feeling is finally achieving that promotion or dream job with the awesome title and then wondering why you still don’t feel fulfilled. You still don’t feel fulfilled (or the feeling is short lived) because you are chasing a title or following all of the “shoulds.”
You should stay on this career path…
You should apply for the promotion…
You should get this certification (even though you don’t like this field that much)...
All of the above are great as long as they are things you ACTUALLY WANT TO DO. Don’t pursue a path just because it is what makes sense or is what you “should” do. The most important thing is...

8 Tips to Reduce Overwhelm & Have A More Productive Day
All 8 tips are incorporated into the printable Daily Planner from Designed Life Studio to help you stay consistent with your goals, reduce overwhelm and have a more productive day. You can check out the planner here.
Take a minute to write down at least one thing you are grateful for today. It’s hard to stay in a bad mood when you begin your day grateful.
How do you want to show up today? There are so many factors throughout the day/week that you can’t control. But one thing you can control is being intentional about how you want to show up.
Do you want a way to gain more confidence?
Do you want more clarify around your goals and what you want in life?
It may sound scary, but taking ACTION will provide both confidence and clarify.
Sitting and thinking about your goals won't give you more clarity.
Reading a ton of books or listening to a ton of videos on mindset and confidence isn't a long term fix. (Although you know I loveee my morning personal development/mindset reading!) It helps with daily mindset, but isn't what will build confidence over time.
What gives you clarity and more confidence is taking ACTION toward your goals. Yes, it will be scary. Yes, sometimes it's hard to take the first step without knowing exactly what the end goal will look like.
As you take action, as you grow and develop your skills, you WILL start to gain more confidence and clarity in your goals/path.
This week's video is the missing piece needed in order to increase BOTH confidence and success. It's not a matter of which comes first. It's a matter of this one missing ingredient that helps move everything forward.
Keep going. Keep improving. You got this!
